Prices of commodities have increased since the announcement of Coronavirus cases in Ghana. One of such commodities is surgical face masks.
A surgical face mask which was being sold for less than GHC 5 is now being sold at 300% of its original price.
This was brought to light by a social media user on Twitter who provided a receipt of a surgical mask he bought.
Per what the Twitter user wrote, he bought the mask which was originally sold for GHC 3 for GHC 15.
Sharing photos of his receipt, he wrote;
“Disposable surgical face mask is 3 cedis. Ernest Chemists Ltd is now selling one at 15 cedis (5 times the price). This is a complete rip-off and it’s very shameful that such a giant Ghanaian pharmaceutical company will indulge in this shameful exploitation of their clientele”
